March for Babies Family Team

I set up our Family Team for March of Dimes. We'd love to have any of you join us for the walk or help us raise money for the March of Dimes. We owe the organization a debt that cannot be repaid. Here's the direct link to our family page: http://www.marchforbabies.org/s_team_page.asp?seid=574101

Hi Kara and Ben,

I feel a lot like you guys are going through so much of what we went through. Sigh.

Truman's signing is great and that's going to help a lot.

In terms of speech therapy, the techniques used in regular speech therapy don't really work for apraxic kids. The things that really worked for us was using motion to stimulate speech (especially swinging and sliding) and also some prompting for sounds. Even though I don't believe now that Hallie is apraxic, she clearly does have an expressive language disorder (is at least ten months to a year behind her peers) and conventional therapy still doesn't really help. I think that the stuff used for apraxic kids would still be a better choice for her, and I am guessing for Truman, too.

Good luck with all of this. It never does end, does it?
